Don't judge my song choice. There's a story.
I work with troubled youth in the Utah Juvenile Justice System every Monday and Tuesday. I normally call them "delinquents" whenever I'm talking to Steve. They are funny kids, but some days are definitely better than others. Yesterday was a good day. While driving in a 15-passenger van with my adviser and 13 teenage boys from bowling with a group of handicap adults in Provo to the substance abuse class at the county building, the boys wanted to listen to music (although this is against the rules, they always ask)... but one of the boys out of no where started singing "Party in the USA," AND he knew all the words. It was funny to see a 17-year-old boy who got in trouble for trafficking A LOT of drugs in the first place, singing Miley's song -- then when the other 12 joined in, my day was made:)
Needless to say, I've been listening to the song ever since.

eight months.
I'm typically not one for anniversaries. Steve is the hopeless romantic who remembers every date semi-crucial in our relationship over the past 4 1/2 years :) But this whole 'we've been married for eight months thing' has been very exciting for me! We both agree it has been the best eight months yet this far!

a fun month ahead!
Steve & I are excited....
Elton John & Billy Joel are finally coming back THIS FRIDAY night! We were totally bummed after they canceled their show last November (here) due to the Swine Flu.
But we are even more excited to see them now!

Vampire Weekend is coming to Salt Lake on my brothers birthday, March 18th, which is only a few days before Steve's birthday so we saw it fitting to buy tickets for the three of us! I'm sure Steve and Mckay are more excited than I am, but I do love this song. Check it out!
A few days later to celebrate Steve's birthday we will be watching these guys play.
Neither of us are huge fans, but we thought it would be fun to go to a game!
And thanks to a friend at work we have court side tickets!

reliving the 90's
Funny conversation continually reoccurring in the Pierce household the past few weeks, I thought I'd share...
It all started on New Year's Eve Day when I was leaving for work. The traditional "Steve, how do I look?" was asked followed by a first-time comment.... "You look like you just walked straight out of the 1990's" Steve replied. Since I was wearing brand new Christmas clothes, head-to-toe I didn't know whether to take this as a compliment, or to quickly change.
Since then we have joked about the 20 year cycle that is now bringing back the flannel shirts, frizzy hair, over sized sweaters, other 90's accessories, and best of all, 90's music.
I love my over sized sweaters.
Steve wrote an article on his online magazine about it, read here.
And I continually listen to this song on repeat.
A recent local cover of one of my all-time favorite 1990's songs by Lisa Loeb (another reason to love the Provo music scene).
I think we should all revive the 90's. Who's with me?

christmas break - (a few months late)...
A little late, I know. Here's a recap of our holiday
We spent Christmas in Salt Lake with my family, including this little one :) which is always a fun time!

Then we headed off to Texas New Year's Day to spend the weekend with these people...

And spent a night in downtown Forth Worth with these friends...

abigail's birthday
Today is my sister's birthday! Abbie is uh-mazing! She's an example to me: a really really good cook, very patient, always willing to chat and help out in any way she can, super involved with the Relief Society in her ward, a very loving mom and wife, always organized and on top of everything (even when she is sick from pregnancy!) and so selfless! I love that I can call Abbie anytime for recipe help, questions about life and anything else for that matter (which happens...uh.. everyday) and she can always help!
She is also the best sister/friend/advice-giver/life coach:)

I love you Abbie! Happy Birthday and have a wonderful day with Josh & Tienna!
