snail mail

I need to get back on the blog bus. There have been so many moments lately I've thought "Oh, I should blog about that," but I just haven't had the time, so maybe if I just focus on one day at a time I'll finally get caught up!

Big news here at the Pierce household happened on Tuesday between when I left for work at 11 a.m. and when I came home from work at 6 p.m. I was driving to work and Benny and the Jets came on my iPod. My question is, who doesn't love Elton John? It's nearly impossible to not LOVE that man. I was reminded that he and Billy Joel are coming to Salt Lake next Friday, the 20th. Steve is a huge fan and we've talked many times about going, but it's hard to rationalize $100 per ticket, right? Well, that day I had no problem rationalizing the expense, because we will probably never see them again. The first thing I did when I got to work was go on ksl.com and see if there were any tickets. Of course there were, but at what price!? Next I texted Steve and asked him if I could "borrow" $200 from our savings account we have been diligently working on. He said yes, and asked what for. I told him not to worry. He was very confused by this, but knew a surprise was coming. I found some pretty alright seats for $100 each from a guy in Salt Lake. In a matter of minutes I went to the bank, and met the man downtown at his work and made the purchase. I could not WAIT for the end of work to come so I could get back to Provo and surprise Steve. Needless to say he was very surprised, and excited for the concert next weekend! Lesson learned: maybe a 45-minute drive each way to work isn't the best idea -- it often gets my mind wandering and that is when impulse purchases happen...

BIGGER NEWS
here at the Pierce household was that Steve and I received the most adorable, cutest, funniest, darling picture from our little niece Halle this week in the mail. She is in kindergarten in North Carolina, and is clearly an aspiring artist! She is the cutest little curly-haired girl (well, all our nieces are the cutest). The best was Heather said to notice the phonetic spelling next to the red person (which was me). Don't worry, it is now on our refrigerator right next to a similar drawing we got from Madelin, Halle and Meagan on our wedding day! We got a good laugh, and love when we get surprises like this from all the little girls!
